Wednesday night was a lovely celebration in honour of the Moments Magazine launch in Calgary, hosted by Candy Academy. Moments Magazine is focused on keeping Calgary’s even scene alive and well; representing the people, culture, and passion of event planners. The magazine will inform, inspire, and provide tools for Calgarians looking to throw amazing events.
The theme of the event was Urban Evening Garden Party at the Festival Hall in Inglewood, featuring entertainment from Katrein; “offering an evening of elegant jazz with a vintage flair.” The decor was to die for; I had seen pictures of it posted on Facebook before, but it was really breath taking to actually see it in person. The had strung christmas lights and those colorful round paper lanterns across the roof, with a stage at the front and the side of the room and the appy buffet in the middle. There was also a really fun photo booth station to curate funny memories with different props.
The live entertainment was provided by the amazing Katrein and ensemble, who had an amazing voice but soft enough to keep it as background music. There was also a performance by a group of dancers, as well as a speech from Miss Teen Airdrie about bullying and finding confidence in yourself. Throughout the evening hand designed masks were modeled around the room, showcasing the very talented designer, Olga Sem. My colleague and I spent much of the night people watching – there was quite the assortment of people in attendance, perusing the food table, and taking way too many pictures in the photobooth.
It was a very lovely event put on for the launch of Moments; it is really great to see the city come together for moments of passion, culture, creativity, and local support. Thanks again to Candy Boutique for hosting such a beautiful event.
