Now that the snow is falling it is very tempting to wear cozy socks and big sweatshirts to work – if only that was acceptable. The thought of having to put on dress pants and wear flats almost makes me stay in bed. So my compromise between the two is leggings and long sweaters – keeping it comfy but also looking socially presentable at the office. It is fairly terrifying the number of long (mostly grey) sweaters that I own; it is quite unnecessary but they get me every time. On that note, I probably own more pairs of long, cozy socks than sweaters – if that tells you how many pairs I own. My motto: you can never have too many.
The word around town is leggings are not pants (that is debatable) but I adhere to the rule since the office is supposed to be a professional place, and it might seem inappropriate to the “old” people around here. The long sweaters allow me to still wear my beloved leggings but also follow the leggings-aren’t-pants rule. To make it look like I actually tried, I usually wear a few layers to make the outfit more dynamic (and just in case I get to hot in the sweater, at least I have backup). This allow applies to jewelry – you could easily put on a few long necklaces to compliment the clothing layers. I stuck with my go-to statement necklace, mostly because I don’t own long layering necklaces.
