Winter everywhere is harsh on your skin, but especially so if you live in an already dry climate like I do. I feel like I need to bathe in cream just to keep my skin moist and less snake-skin looking. obviously that’s unrealistic so I really on certain creams that I only bring out in the winter that give me the moisture that I need during the cold days.
During these months I try to avoid using any of my harsh acne-fighting products like masks and peels, I find they just add to the dryness making me break out more. I also make sure to pull out my humidifying from the closet and turn it on every night. Some people, like my parents, like to leave it on all day, but I am not home during the day so I just keep it on at night.
If you are looking for new products to try, here are my go-to ones:
Face: L’Occtaine Shea Ultra Rich Cream. This is just pure shea butter and can really be used all over the body but I use it on my face when I really feel like I need a moisture boost. It is pretty thick, but leaves my skin feeling super soft in the morning.
Eyes: Origins’ Eye Doctor™ Moisture Care. I use this cream around my eyes; the thin skin there can get really dry and make me look extra tired. It’s very light and hasn’t caused me any irritation.
Hands: Neal’s Yard Remedies Bee Lovely Hand Cream. I own many different hand creams; I keep them in my purse and at the office, but the one that I use every night before bed is this one. It blends honey and essential oils to soften and protect your hands, and it helps save the bees: bonus.
Feet: Footlogix Very Dry Skin Formula. My feet get so dry and cracked that I have to put cream on them every night to keep them at least a little moisturized during the day. This has been my favourite foot cream because it comes out as a mousse so is lighter and less greasy than lots of other foot creams.
Body: Aveeno Stress Relief Moisturizing Lotion. In the winter it keeps my skin from getting that scaly look, and in the summer it helps me keep my tan a bit longer. I use it all year since I live in a dry city. The light lavender smell helps calm my mind as I try to fall asleep.
What is your go-to moisturizing product? I would love to try any recommendations out!
