All us girls know its hoes before bros; who else will listen to our rants about the same boy over and over again, and understand the struggle of wanting to drink wine at 2pm at work…It is important to have a close knit group of girls to hang with, separate from your boyfriend and that group of friends. Especially if you’re family isn’t nearby, your girl gang becomes your second family.
There are lots of famous girl gangs – Tswift tried to make the biggest one possible, but the classic group is obviously Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. There is something empowering about rolling up to your favourite spot with your girls and spending the night drinking cocktails and gossiping – yes, I am picturing every SATC scene ever made.
Maybe we can be each other’s soul mates and then we can let men be just these great, nice guys to have fun with. – Carrie
As I get older and grow apart from some of the people I was really good friends with in high school and even uni, I realize it’s so important to surround yourself with people that truly reflect who you are. Life is too short to put up with dumb and disappointing people who you only kind of sorta like. Seriously, build your babes club with the girls that bring out the best version of you and will support you in all your life choices.
Whiskey Weekend designed a shirt to let us all in the local babes club of YYC. I like to think of it as a “you can’t sit with us” situation but it is a strong community of Calgary girls that are here to support each other. Some guy tried to use it as a pick up line: “Are you a local babe?” stfu. That’s why girls need to stick together 😉
