Summer is my favourite season – the sun is out when I wake up (and sometimes when I go to bed), there seems to be less to do, you can spend time outside, and you can get a nice tan. Also, working out doesn’t seem like such a downer – plus extra motivation comes from all those patio drinks (I have to wear a bikini by when??). If you tend to avoid looking in the mirror below your face or have to jump around like a psycho frog to get last year’s daisy duke’s on, let me introduce you to the Sweat Collective. It’s free. You have zero excuses.
Basically the Sweat Collective is a whole bunch of free classes that are happening around the city all summer – some outside, some in studios, but all with a community feel. Calgary’s fitness community is doing a really amazing job at getting people out and active – this is for all you need-accountability people (who really likes to run for an hour by themselves anyways?). You can reserve spots so you don’t have to show up 3 days before to get a spot. It’s super easy and you can feel less guilty about all those mini donuts you just washed down with beer.
P.S. Check out the founder of the Sweat Style, Joanna Magik – she runs the Outsiders Run Club on Tuesday nights!
