I don’t know what it is about jackets but I have never really been a fan. Unless someone buys them for me, I just don’t even think about shopping for them. I didn’t even have a real winter coat until my mom went out and bought one so I don’t freeze when I walk my dog. And every fall in the weird could-be-summer-could-be-winter weather that Calgary is known for, I never have a jacket that is reasonable. It’s either dog-walking-wind-breaker or minus-forty-winter, SOS.
So this year I gave in and really tried to make an effort in the Fall jacket department. Is a trench coat considered a fall jacket? Hard to say. I thought it was a big step forward over here (also stay tuned for the cool bomber I bought over the weekend). What I love most about this light coloured trench, is that it goes with everything. It can be worn casual or dressed up, which is something that I absolutely need when I only have one coat…
I took a business spin on it since that is usually what I am wearing day to day. The burgundy pencil skirt really captures the gorgeous fall colours of the outfit, plus is a perfect length to assure people I am wearing something underneath… I added the hat as a fun accessory, I wouldn’t wear it to work, but I think it looks investigator-chic with the trench, and the darker colour contrasts nicely with the light jacket.
The shoes are oxford-style, I apologize for not having the actual link but I borrowed these ones from a friend..But any type of oxford heel styles nicely with this whole look, again adding to that Sherlock Holmes-esque of the trench and hat.
This whole outfit is from my fave YYC boutique, Adorn. They have the cutest fall pieces in right now, including great seasonal jackets (I have another great fall look coming to the blog next week). Follow them on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss out on their amazing pieces.
