It’s that time of year again where we start making our #2017goals; thinking about what we accomplished this past year and how we want to grow in the upcoming year. For me (for everyone?) 2016 was a crazy year with ups and downs but I can’t be happier with where my life is right now. Overall with my career and my relationship, but also with my FITNESS.
Being laid off was a terrible thing, and I have the most empathy for everyone else that has been affected by the economy, but my fitness benefited. The only thing that I could do that didn’t cost money but took up time was work out. If only someone would pay me to work out (anyone? anyone?), I would be to go back to spending a couple hours in the gym everyday. I also started working at YYC Cycle in March and started spinning almost every day. It was quite the life I was living even if I was #helpmeImpoor broke. I was able to reach some of the fitness goals I set every year around this time in terms of PRs, cardio endurance, and just feeling really good about my health and my body.
I’m starting 2017 off at Undrcard and fully embracing my INNER-BOXER with their 15 in 30 #YOTK (year of the knock-out) challenge. All of the new boxing studios have been amazing that are popping up in Calgary and I’m pumped to add the workout to my routine. 2017 I’m looking to continue to grow in the gym and with my overall health. Meal planning and sticking with a routine is key, and my goal is to stay consistent with both. Does everyone always have the goal of finding those abs? I think it’s a vague goal, considering the definition of having “abs” probably varies from person to person. When I say my goal is to “get abs”, what it really means is sticking to a healthy diet, working out as much as I can, and appreciating the (slight) changes to my body. In a cheesy way, it’s more of a metaphor to being healthy and fit, as opposed to that 8 pack that probably is never coming.
Sport Check sent me a lovely package to help with staying fit this holiday season and into the New Year. I have jumped on the bandwagon of counting my steps and tracking my sleep patterns with my new FitBit Charge 2 to really help me stay on track, especially sitting all day at a desk at work. What I’m wearing here are my Nike Pro Warm Notebook Allover Print Women’s Tights, with a Nike Pro Classic Padded Oil Glitch Women’s Bra, and of course some Nike Flyknits. Sport Chek has really great options if you’re looking for new gear to reach your goals or are looking to #GiveaBetterGift.
